Gmail said that only Apple can assist with recovery since the items were deleted via the app. I have lost thousands of very important e-mails due to this issue with the apple app.

Because the inbox messages were removed by the apple app and did not go through the trash folder, gmails recovery tool does not work. I contacted gmail and spoke with the Google One support team for well over an hour. None of the missing items were in the trash - in fact the items in the trash folder were all items that I had deleted over the last week or so.

It was only the inbox folder across my 6 e-mail accounts. No other folders (mailboxes) were deleted or altered.
